good food grown well :: season 26
common good farm
raymond, ne

Common Good Farm is in our 26th season of growing good food (& plants) through good farming in Lancaster County, Nebraska! We’re a mom & pop farm...food is grown from seed to harvest by Evrett Lunquist & Ruth Chantry.  Our farm is located just 1.5 miles north of Raymond, Nebraska. Farming in Southeast Nebraska since 1996, we are a certified organic & certified Biodynamic®/Demeter farm – one of about 150 Demeter-certified Biodynamic farms in the United States. In some ways, the certifications are just a reflection of our striving to grow the highest quality produce, eggs & meat through soil vitality & regeneration & conscientious farming practices. We use Biodynamic & organic seeds as available, focus on open-pollinated & heirloom varieties & limit our use of hybrids.

Our impulse for farming Biodynamically comes from our experience with observing plants as living things, not merely as passive recipients of soil-based nutrients. With Biodynamics, farming is about creating a whole farm as a vibrant entity through the farmers’ impulses. Biodynamics & sustainable farming are exciting & creative endeavors...directed but not prescriptive.

We grow over 45 different kinds of produce -- 2 acres of veggies & herbs. We also offer an organic plant sale each Spring-into-Summer, raise certified organic pastured hogs and 100% grass-fed/grazed beef & a pasture-based laying flock for gorgeous certified organic eggs.

We feel called to grow good food, pure & simple...for people we know or come to know. We steward the earth through our work, growing the most delicious, nutritious foods we can...truly good food grown well! As stewards & through our farming practices, we preserve & create wildlife habitats, enliven plant & animal communities, as well as continue to create a livelihood on  our small diversified family farm.

In 2020, we changed to Farm Memberships for those that want to join in...a change from our long-standing traditional boxed CSA. Check it out & jump in for 2022.

Eggs are available year-round at the farm & at Open Harvest & at Natural Grocers in Lincoln. Open Harvest also carries our produce seasonally & our organic veg, herb & flowers plants in the spring. Meats are  butchered throughout the year.

Here are the highlights again...busy farm, good food, jump in & dig deeper!
