csa: summer share
CSA= community supported agriculture & is a dynamic farm movement nearly thirty years old, summed up as “share the bounty, share the risk " or perhaps better said, "in sickness & in health.” CSA engages farmer & consumer in a relationship in which consumer members pledge annually to pay a share of the farm’s economic needs & in return receive a share of the produce in weekly harvests, as well as other farm-specific benefits. Early pledges & payments provide funds for expenses incurred before harvesting begins & throughout season. Over time, there have developed many variations on how CSA comes together to serve a specific community. Our CSA is a traditional single-farm CSA with a box of veggies picked up once a week by CSA members. Enjoy the ease of pick-up while enjoying the adventure (& good health) of trying (perhaps) new-to-you veggies & herbs!
Our 2019 Summer CSA: Members support the farm with a share of the budget & receive a share of the season’s harvest as a weekly harvest box, picked-up from a delivery site in Lincoln or on-farm. Included in each harvest is a delightful newsletter sharing farm news, recipes & produce information. Harvest shares average 10 - 12 pounds/week over the season. The 16 week season is projected to begin early/mid-May. Some seasons we start slightly earlier or later, depending on weather. As is the nature of farming & with Nature, there are variables beyond our control. We suggest a share is adequate for a family of 4, or 2 vegetarians; folks eat differently & this is only a guideline. Too much? Find a partner & share the harvest (see form: $20 partner fee). Cost is $515 for the 16-week Summer CSA. A signed pledge form & deposit ($215) or full payment reserves a share. You can also pay on-line and email or snail mail the pledge form. We strongly encourage early deposits, but we accept pledges until all spots are filled. Subsequent payment of the share balance ($300) is due by June 1, 2019. Early pledges are important to us to help guide the framework of the season as well as purchase the right amount of seeds & plan our field plantings...we're already planting seedlings in the greenhouse at the beginning of February & seeds are purchased well before!
Pick up on-farm or specific drop site locations in Lincoln. Harvest pick up time are from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM, choosing from Mondays or Thursdays. Our Monday site is just south of East Campus in Lincoln & our Thursday site is just south of downtown Lincoln. On--farm pick up is available for either harvest day...one harvest day per week, the same harvest day for the entire season.
