                    csa: summer harvest share

CSA= community supported agriculture & is a dynamic farm movement over twenty years old, summed up as “share the bounty, share the risk " or perhaps better said, "in sickness & in health.” CSA engages farmer & consumer in a relationship in which consumer members pledge annually to pay a share of the farm’s economic needs & in return receive a share of the produce in weekly harvests, as well as other farm-specific benefits. Early pledges & payments provide funds for expenses incurred before harvesting begins & throughout season. Over time, there have developed many variations on how CSA comes together to serve a specific community. Our CSA is a more traditional box of veggies picked up once a week by CSA members.

How it works for the Summer Share: Members support the farm with a share of the budget & receive a share of the season’s harvest as a weekly harvest box, picked-up from a delivery site or on-farm. Included in each harvest is a delightful newsletter sharing farm news, recipes & produce information. Harvest shares average 10 - 12 pounds/week over the season, which runs 12 weeks beginning mid-late May. As is the nature of farming & farming with Nature, there are variables beyond our control.
We suggest this is adequate for a family of 4, or 2 vegetarians; folks eat differently & this is only a guideline. Too much? Find a partner & share the harvest (see form: $20 partner fee). Share cost is $360 for the 12 week Summer Harvest Share. A signed pledge form & deposit ($180) or full payment reserves a share. We strongly encourage early deposits, but we accept pledges until all spots are filled. Early pledges are important to us & help with planning! Subsequent payment of $180 is due by June 1, 2012. We are offering 66 shares for 2012. Pick up on-farm or specific drop site locations in Lincoln. Harvest pick up is from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM on Mondays or Thursdays.

For Fall Harvest Share, see additional info here.

More than Just Good Food! The CSA experience is much more than good food. You know that you are offering vital core support to our farm & in return receive not only the harvest, but much more:
                    •  An additional benefit for supporting members (pledging $30 or more) & full CSA members is a 10% discount on produce & plants purchased from us at market or on-farm for the calendar year. This creates another opportunity to show our appreciation for folks' steadfast & continued support of our farming, as well as widen the circle of community more than we can with just the full CSA membership. The 10% discount does not apply to CSA membership (Summer or Fall Harvest Shares) , eggs or meat. Just plants & produce. Ask if you have questions!
